LOS ANGELES, December 8, 1995 . . . UPN has signed WLYH-TV, Harrisburg, PA, as a primary affiliate, giving the new network affiliated stations in 49 of the top 50 markets, it was announced today by R. Kevin Tannehill, senior vice president of network distribution, UPN.

WLYH-TV, which has been a CBS affiliate in the nation's 44th largest market, will make the switch to UPN on Monday, December 18th. Clear Channel Communications, Inc. has recently entered into an LMA arrangement for WLYH-TV with Gateway Communications, Inc. Regarding this deal Lowry Mays, president and CEO of Clear Channel Communications said, "We are excited to be able to offer the Harrisburg audience an additional quality viewing option through WLYH's affiliaton with UPN. Clear Channel is enthusiastic about the continued growth and expansion of UPN. Including WLYH, Clear Channel now operates six stations that are UPN affiliates."

UPN premiered on Monday, January 16, with 102 affiliates covering 81% of all U.S. television viewing households. In ten months, network distribution has enlisted 50 new affiliates to the UPN roster, increasing total coverage of the U.S. by more than 13%.
