Moesha

Yvette Wilson

[#16] as Andell

Actress and comedienne Yvette Wilson stars as Andell, owner of the kids' local hangout and friend and confidante to the title character in UPN's popular comedy series "Moesha."

Wilson got her start in entertainment when, on a bet, she performed a stand-up routine at a friend's club. To her amazement, she landed her first paying gig off that performance and has been working the comedy club circuit ever since.

In addition to being a busy stand-up comic, Wilson has a long list of television and film roles to her credit. She was a series regular on "Thea" and "Def Comedy Jam Variety Show," was a featured player on "In Living Color," and has made appearances on "Showtime at the Apollo"; "A Laugh/A Tear"; "MTV Half Hour Comedy Hour"; and HBO's "Def Comedy Jam."

Her feature film credits include roles in John Singleton's "Poetic Justice," starring Janet Jackson; the Hudlin Brothers' "House Party III," with rap stars and actors Kid `n' Play; "Friday"; and the film parody, "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your juice in the `Hood."

She has performed stand-up routines at such historic venues as Harlem's Apollo Theater; The Improv (Los Angeles and New York); The Comedy Store; the Comedy Act Theater; Catch a Rising Star; Comic Strip; Laugh Factory; and Stand-Up New York, as well as at the Universal Amphitheater, The Hollywood Palladium and The Palace. She was a finalist in the Bay Area Black Comedy Competition in Oakland, California.

Wilson attended California State University, San Jose, where she majored in communications (radio and television) and received training at the Mark Taper Forum Conservatory in Los Angeles.

She makes her home in Los Angeles.
