Eddie Vélez plays the stylish reporter and anchor Ricardo Sandoval in Live Shot, the new, fast-paced ensemble drama series from RYSHER Entertainment for broadcast on UPN.
A long-time presence in both television and film, Vélez was a series regular on The A-Team, True Blue, Charlie and Company, Berrenger's and Trial and Error, for which he won a Golden Eagle Award from the Nosotros organization and a Cesar Award from the Hispanic Achievement Society. He also had recurring roles on The Trials of Rosie O'Neill, Cagney and Lacey and Bay City Blues, and appeared as a guest star on such series as Murder She Wrote, The Commish, Empty Nest, Tour of Duty, Hill Street Blues and Midnight Caller.
Vélez has also starred in several mini-series and television movies, among them Bitter Vengeance, for the USA Network; The Files of Joseph Wambaugh; the Emmy Award-winning NBC mini-series Drug Wars: The Camarena Story, the techno-thriller C.A.T Squad, directed by William Friedkin, Shannon's Deal and For Love and Honor.
Vélez also co-produced the highly-rated CBS television movie Scattered Dreams: The Kathryn Messenger Story, starring Tyne Daly.
On the big screen, Vélez appeared as lead detective Joe Morales in the recent release "A Passion to Kill." Other feature films include "Split Decisions," starring Gene Hackman; "Romero," opposite Raul Julia; the cult hit "Repo Man" and "Rooftops," directed by Robert Wise. On stage, he has performed in "The Petrified Forest," "Steambath," "Delirious," "Balm in Gilead," "Bell, Book and Candle" and "The Three Penny Opera."
A native of Manhattan, he attended the High School of Art and Design and the School of Visual Art. He later studied at the Estelle Harman Actors Workshop in Hollywood and with esteemed director Jose Quintero at the Mark Taper Forum.
