
BURBANK, Calif. -- September 27, 2004 -- The powerful dramas "American Dreams," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "Crossing Jordan" all launched their television seasons last night with strong ratings, according to "fast affiliate-based" in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, which will be updated tomorrow and are subject to revision.
At 8 p.m. ET, the third season premiere of "American Dreams" (3.1/8 in 18-49, 8.7 million viewers overall) built on its 18-49 lead-in by 35 percent to finish a strong #2 for the hour. "American Dreams" outslugged CBS' drama competition, a preview of the new series "Clubhouse," by 63 percent in 18-49 (3.1 vs. 1.9). "Dreams" returned to the NBC schedule at full steam, matching the highest 18-49 rating among its last seven regular-slot telecasts of the 2003-04 season.
Preliminary 18-49 averages for Sunday night are: ABC 5.2/14; NBC, 3.6/9; Fox, 3.5/9; CBS, 2.5/7 WB, 1.6/4. Among total viewers, preliminary Sept. 26 averages are: ABC, 12.6 million; CBS, 11.9 million; NBC, 10.4 million; Fox, 7.9 million; WB, 3.6 million.
