R&B SINGING STAR ASHANTI GUEST-STARS ON NBC'S 'AMERICAN DREAMS' WHEN SHE GUEST-STARS AS POP SINGING SENSATION DIONNE WARWICK IN HOLIDAY EPISODE

BURBANK, Calif. -- November 8, 2002 -- Fast-rising R&B singing star Ashanti ("Foolish") will guest-star on NBC's nostalgic hit drama "American Dreams" (Sundays, 8-9 p.m. ET) as 1960s pop sensation Dionne Warwick and will sing the future superstar's hit song "Walk On By."

Ashanti will appear in the Christmas-themed episode "Silent Night" for broadcast December 15.

Ashanti wrote all 12 songs on her current album "Ashanti" from the Murder Inc. label, including the hit single "Foolish." The 22-year-old also co-wrote Jennifer Lopez' hit single "Ain't It Funny" remix.

The casting of Ashanti continues the drama's tradition of casting contemporary singing stars in the roles of the era's biggest stars. When Grammy-winner Usher plays Motown legend Marvin Gaye (airing Sunday, November 10), he'll join the fraternity of fellow recording stars Michelle Branch (as Lesley Gore) and Nick Carter (as Jay of Jay and the Americans) who have guest-starred as musical stars in episodes from the series' iconic era.
